Gujarat primary school close Due to Coronavirus effect
All School, colleges In Gujarat Closed Till Next Two Weeks 16/3/2020 to 29/03/2020 Due to CORONAVIRUS Effect An unprecedented number of children, youth and adults are not attending schools or universities because of COVID-19.  Governments in 61 countries have announced or implemented the closure of educational institutions in an attempt to slow the spread of the disease(link is external). UNESCO is providing immediate support to countries as they work to minimize the educational disruption and facilitate the continuity of learning, especially for the most vulnerable. 

According to UNESCO monitoring, 39 countries have closed schools nationwide, impacting over 420 million children and youth. A further 22 countries have implemented localized school closures and, should these closures become nationwide, hundreds of millions of additional learners will experience education disruption.

Taking a cue from other states, the Gujarat government on Sunday announced measures to counter the growing threat of COVID-19. The state will shut down all educational institutions, swimming pools and cinema halls for 2 weeks from March 16.

Additionally, the Gujarat government has also banned spitting in public. Anyone who is found in violation of this will be fined Rs 500. The government has also requested all private and religious organisations to call of any congregations or conferences that they had planned. 

Class 10th and 12th examinations will, however, be carried out as per schedule. 
Several states including Delhi, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh have also taken similar initiatives to reduce the risk of coronavirus spread spiraling out of proportion.
